Woman, 26, charged with killing 82-year-old | News
BISHOPVILLE, SC (WIS)- A Bishopville woman has been arrested and charged with killing an 82-year-old man who was found dead inside his home Monday evening.
Bishopville Police Chief Calvin Collins says forensic evidence led officers to 26-year-old Yahisha Barr. She was apprehended about 6 hours after George Hardoman's body was discovered on the kitchen floor of his South Lee Street residence.
Collins says the two were neighbors and acquaintances but a motive for the killing has not been determined. The chief says there was no sign of a burglary.
Hardoman's daughter, who lives in Maryland, called authorities after not being able to get in touch with him, Collins said.
When police arrived to the home around 6 p.m. to do a welfare check, officers found an open door and Hardoman's body on the floor.
Authorities have not released a cause of death because the investigation is ongoing, Collins said.
Barr is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
The case has been turned over to SLED.
