United Way launches partnership to give consumers prescription savings

The providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card and the United Way of Sumter, Clarendon & Lee Counties today announced the launch of their community partnership. By providing this important resource, a discount prescription program that allows consumers to receive significant savings on prescription drugs and other healthcare services, to help consumers improve their health and financial stability, the Coast2Coast Rx card will help the United Way further its mission of improving lives and striving for the greater good in the communities that it serves.

 

Access to affordable prescriptions and healthcare are not the only benefits that Coast2Coast Rx provides it also is gives back to the communities it serves by creating revenue for its partnering organization. In its collaboration with Coast2Coast Rx, United Way of Sumter, Clarendon & Lee Counties will receive $1.25 for each prescription filled using the card, helping the chapter to maximize its investment in the community.

 

“Many individuals and nonprofits have suffered under economic strain and Coast2Coast Rx provides numerous benefits to our community, addressing the issues of affordable healthcare and the personal finances that accompany it,” said Community Development Director Natasha Jenkins, speaking on behalf of The United Way of Sumter, Clarendon & Lee Counties.

 

The Coast2Coast Rx card has already been endorsed by about 280 governmental entities, saving consumers millions of dollars on their prescriptions and other healthcare services each year.  The benefits of the card are available to everyone; there are no age limitations, income status requirements, or any restrictions on existing health conditions. In some cases Medicare patients will find that the card can help reduce costs of the Part D “donut hole.” Those with no insurance coverage, the underinsured and those with high deductibles or prescriptions not covered by their health plan can benefit greatly from the Coast2Coast Rx card.

 

Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card, states, “Improving consumers’ health and finances in the communities we serve are of the utmost importance to us. Our collaboration with the United Way of Sumter, Clarendon & Lee Counties will strengthen and supplement our efforts in this joint mission.”

 

Cardholders save an average of 60 percent, and up to 75 percent, on over 60,000 brand name or generic drugs at the 59,000+ participating pharmacies, which includes major chains and many independent locations. Through partner programs, consumers can also utilize their Coast2Coast Rx card for discounts on dental, vision, hearing and lab services, as well as diabetes supplies and even veterinary care and many pet prescriptions. With no paper work to fill out, no membership requirements and no expiration date, consumers can immediately save money on their medications and certain healthcare services.
